Our September Seed and Cutting Exchange will once again be held at the Kirk Park Native Plant Pollinator Garden in San Jose. We have reserved the park’s picnic area for this fun event.

Come explore the 14,000 square foot native plant garden at Kirk Park. Garden docents will be present to assist you, and there will be a nearby picnic table area stocked with free seeds and cuttings. You can also see live examples of many of the cuttings available right in the garden! We will have live, interactive demonstrations, so you can learn to start your very own cuttings at home. Feel free to bring your own containers for transporting any cuttings you may want to take home.

Our Wildflower Ambassadors will be distributing free seed packets and providing valuable information. Seed packets will include both wildflower annuals and perennials. Some of the individual annual wildflower packets include lupines, clarkias, tidy tips and more! For unpackaged, loose seeds, small coin envelopes will be provided.

It is not necessary to bring anything if you do not have native material to share. However, if you do have native plant material from your garden that you would like to contribute, we encourage you to bring it along. Please label your contributions for easy browsing, and any helpful growing tips or photos of the plants in bloom would be greatly appreciated. You may find it useful to use Calscape.org for this purpose; there is a link on the plant’s information page that allows you to create a printable sign for most native species and cultivars. If you bring cuttings, please ensure they remain cool and moist in a bucket of water.
