DESCRIPTION:Plant Community Walk: Coastal Bluff Scrub\nWhy do plants grow where they gr
 ow? In nature, plants grow in readily identifiable communities or associati
 ons united by location (soil, topography and microclimate). Join Arvind Kum
 ar and Ashok Jethanandani as we explore the coastal bluff scrub plant commu
 nity at Bean Hollow State Beach. Beginners interested in plant identificati
 on are welcome; prior knowledge of native plants or botany is not required.
 \nWe will take the Arroyo de los Frijoles Trail that goes from Bean Hollow 
 Beach to Pebble Beach, and back. We expect to see coffeeberry, sagebrush, c
 oyote brush, angelica, buckwheat, gumplant, seaside daisy, yarrow and more.
  The distance covered will be 1.5 miles with 45’ of elevation gain.\nBring 
 a hat, water, a bag lunch and your favorite trail accessories (camera/smart
 phone/hand lens/binoculars/field guide/none). Dress in layers and appropria
 tely for possibly foggy/windy weather. There is no drinking water in the pa
 rk, so please bring your own.\nDirections: The park is located 3 miles sout
 h of the town of Pescadero off Hwy 1. Take Hwy. 92 west to Half Moon Bay, t
 hen turn left on Hwy. 1 and go south for 18 miles, 3 miles past the town of
  Pescadero. We will meet in the parking lot at 9:30 am. Carpooling is recom
