SUMMARY:Seed & Cutting Exchange + Plant Sale Pickup
LOCATION:Peninsula Conservation Center (PCC)\, 3921 E. Bayshore Road in Palo Alto
DESCRIPTION:Seed and Cutting Exchange\nFree and open to the public.\nPropagation of nat
ive plants is a year-round activity, and our Wildflower Ambassadors are wor
king to offer Seed and Cutting Exchanges more frequently. Our next one will
be on Sunday, March 17 from 1:00 to 3:00pm at the Peninsula Conservation C
enter (PCC), 3921 E. Bayshore Road in Palo Alto. This free event provides a
n opportunity to share and receive both seeds and cuttings of native plants
. Browse the diverse offerings, ranging from easy-to- grow to hard-to-find,
and go home with seeds and cuttings of new native plants! We will provide
coin envelopes for seeds but bring containers to carry cuttings home.\nIf y
ou have native plant material from your own garden to share, please bring s
ome. Label your cuttings to make them easy to browse – some gardeners attac
h helpful hints about growing; others display photos of plants in bloom. Yo
u may find it convenient to use calscape.org for this – there is a link on
each plant’s information page to make a printable sign for most native spec
ies and cultivars.\nIf you bring cuttings, keep them cool and moist in a bu
cket of water. Don’t have native plant material to share? No problem, as th
ere is usually enough for all.\nSeveral popular gardening books will be ava
ilable for sale during the event, including Seed Propagation of Native Cali
fornia Plants (2021 ed.), by Dara E. Emery; California Native Plants for th
e Garden by Carol Bornstein, David Fross, and Bart O'Brien; and California
Native Gardening, A Month-by-Month Guide by Helen Popper.\nOur Wildflower A
mbassadors will be giving out free seed packets and information as well.\nL
imited Online Plant Sale\nThere will be an online plant sale at california-
 native-plant-society-santa-clara-valley-chapter.square.site (california-nat
 ive-plant-society-santa-clara-valley-chapter.square.site), starting at 9:00
am on Sunday, March 10. We will be offering plants that do well under oaks
 – irises, honeysuckle (Lonicera hispidula), strawberries (Fragaria) and mor
e.\nThe store will close when we reach our pickup capacity. In addition to
plants, the nursery’s online store includes Chapter T-shirts, books, labels
and plant signs.\nOrders from this sale will only be available for pickup
before and during our Seed Exchange at the Peninsula Conservation Center on
Sunday, March 17. We will not have nursery pickup or delivery, and there i
 s a minimum order of $40. \nCall for Volunteers\nWe need help with setup, a
nswering questions and cleanup for the seed and cutting exchange and plant
sale pickup.\nThe tasks don’t require expert knowledge of plants, and the s
hifts are set up to spend time at the event in addition to volunteering. Yo
 u can sign up here: www.cnps- scv.org/seed-cutting-help (https://www.cnps-s
cv.org/seed-cutting-help).\nDirections to the PCC: (3921 E. Bayshore Road,
Palo Alto) From Hwy. 101 take the San Antonio Rd. exit and head north. Take
the next left onto East Bayshore, which will curve left then right. Take t
he first right onto Corporation Way, and an immediate left into the PCC par
king lot. The meeting rooms are on the first floor.\n
